Deer Antler Spray, Is It Effective?

The use of supplements has always been widespread in the athletic world and the bodybuilding scene. Although, many of the supplements available in the market are proved to be legal and are believed to be effective. One of the widely used supplement in both worlds is the deer antler spray. With its effects which are perceived to be “too good to be true,” athletes and body builders are not scared to take it.

The Legendary Drug

Though the use of deer antler spray is widespread nowadays, the drug has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for even thousands of years. It’s believed to promote blood flow, improve kidney function and to cure a variety of sickness.

The substance IGF-1 which is present in the deer antler spray came from the deer antler velvet. This is the tissue inside the deer’s antlers before they fully harden. Veterinarians clips the antlers of a young deer before it hardens. The harvested substance is considered to be a dietary supplement by the Food and Drug Administration.

The IGF-1 which is the main component of the deer antler spray is similar to insulin which rapids the cell division. IGF-1 is also found in the human body, it is naturally produced by the body to stimulate the growth and the development of muscles and bones. It is quite abundant with a growing child. In theory, pumping up the human system with this substance, makes it possible to become stronger at a faster rate than in normal circumstances, because the number of cells with the ability to generate muscles are increased.

Deer Antler Spray Side Effects

And as true as with any other supplements, a number of serious side effects are also believed to be present when using deer antler spray. Although it has often been linked to the side effects of illegal steroids, the deer antler spray side effects are not clinically well defined. So, the use of the substance is deemed safe with the proper dosage. It has also been dubbed as the famous “steroid alternative” for it is safer but believed to bear the same performance-enhancing powers present in steroids.

The possibilities of allergies and other side effects are present when using deer antler spray. Those people with conditions that might get worse in exposure to estrogen are advised not to use deer antler spray. Deer antler sprays are believed to act like estrogens.
